If you’re a fan of Swedish black metal, then you’ve probably heard of Watain. They’re one of the most well-known and respected black metal bands out there. And 2nd album, Casus Luciferi, is one of the most highly anticipated black metal albums of the second wave.
Watain’s Casus Luciferi is a return to form for the Swedish black metal outfit. After a couple of eps, demos and split live releases, the band has finally delivered an album that fans can sink their teeth into.
The album opener, “Devil’s Blood”, sets the tone for the rest of the record. It’s a fast, furious track that features some of Watain’s best musicianship to date. The following song, “Black Salvation”, is even better, with its catchy riff and epic chorus.
From start to finish, Casus Luciferi is a non-stop assault on the senses. If you’re a fan of black metal, or just heavy music in general, this album is essential listening.
